First week back

Even a hurt arm doesn’t keep a smile of Samuel’s face.

We have had a busy first week back at school. Students not only started the term with the usual reading, writing, maths and inquiry; theywere treated to 2 different guest performances/speakers.  The first was to celebrate NAIDOC week which happened during the holidays.  Students got to listen to 2 performers play guitar and sing songs related to Aboriginal and Islander culture.  The second was a guest speaker who talked to the grade 1/2’s about safety and first aid.  The kids learnt about different dangers that can be found at home and how to prevent them as well as how to tell if someone is unresponsive.  All students got to take home an information sheet on what to do if there is an emergency.  I think the best part though was when the students got to pretend they were injured and bandaged up.

The classroom was quiet once Rita got her head and chin bandage.

A very serious injury for Montana, a broken ponytail.

What a trooper Lourdes is even with a bandaged hand.

Good thing it wasn't Chaise's writing arm.

Gloria worked her brain so much it needed a bandage.
