This week 1/2B is making narratives in writing! On the 11th of December we published our narratives and we have been enjoying making them. Everyone has made a narrative and we are going to read each others narratives. A few people are publishing on the computer and others are publishing on paper. This term we are learning about visual arts in Inquiry. We are focusing on colour, line, texture and patterns. To help us learn about the different types of lines we took our learning outside and had a go at drawing aboriginal ispired chalk art. We may have got a little dirty but we had a blast making art and looking at each other’s work. What do you think of our art? Have you done any aboriginal inspired art before?
In week 3, the Preps to Grade 2’s got to participate in the annual Sports Day. Olivia from 1/2 B wrote a wonderful description of the day’s events and here are some photos to go along with it.
On wendesday we had a sports day. We did lots of games and had lots of fun! We also did what we think a Nogard is, and we drawed a picture of a green giant. That was all in reading. In Writing we did vocabulary and persuasive letters. We alwase have lots of fun doing everything!! We have done multiplication in Maths. My favourite part of sports day was when we done long jump and the parachute. – Lourdes. My favourite pasrt on sports day was the race. – Emily. We have had a busy first week back at school. Students not only started the term with the usual reading, writing, maths and inquiry; theywere treated to 2 different guest performances/speakers. The first was to celebrate NAIDOC week which happened during the holidays. Students got to listen to 2 performers play guitar and sing songs related to Aboriginal and Islander culture. The second was a guest speaker who talked to the grade 1/2’s about safety and first aid. The kids learnt about different dangers that can be found at home and how to prevent them as well as how to tell if someone is unresponsive. All students got to take home an information sheet on what to do if there is an emergency. I think the best part though was when the students got to pretend they were injured and bandaged up.

Miss you all but I wanted to say Hi and let you know that even though I’m not at school, I am still learning and thinking of you. I’m at a conference today for teachers all across Victoria and I am getting information, resources and skills to better help you continue to your education. And not just the boring stuff like what is 2 + 2 but how you can find the answer to that question and how you can share that to other people. I have lots of ideas that I can’t wait to get back and share with you. I hope you will be as excited as I am.

We have been learning how to write information reports. We have learnt that information reports need headings, facts, pictures, punctuation, labels and captions.
We are now publishing our reports so that people can read and get information.
As part of our 1/2 health unit we are learning about healthy eating. We played a lunchbox game on the ‘Go For Your Life’ website.
